Dreamin’ in California came from the idea of two people who have been through the hard years together and somehow made it to the other side. It’s about looking back at the cold, the uncertainty, the fear and the things you had to fight through—and then looking around and realizing that the life you once dreamed about is actually here.

California is more than a setting in this song. It became a symbol of that better place: warmth, palm trees, possibility, and finally being able to breathe. At its heart, “Dreamin’ in California” is about getting there with the person who was beside you through all of it.
